Editors and writers enjoy a symbiotic relationship: A literary journal needs writers to function and thrive. Writers need literary journals to showcase their writing. How do they find each other? What can writers do to facilitate a “good match”? What are some of the rewards of these relationships? Linda Fritz, editor of The Delmarva Review and Kate Blackwell, a widely published author and a Featured Writer in this year’s Review, will compare and contrast their experiences in literary publishing, share their insights, and answer questions about how to get your work published.

LINDA FRITZ is the editor of The Delmarva Review, a regional literary journal now in its second year. Early in her career Linda was an assistant editor for Sunset and the associate editor for Diversion magazine. She also traveled extensively as a marketing researcher and management consultant before settling in Easton, MD 30 years ago. Her interest in writing began as a teenager when she had a weekly column in a local newspaper and wrote for her high school literary magazine. Several years ago she returned to creative writing. Her piece, “Remembering Martin – Joan Baez Creates Legendary Magic,” recently won a Clarion Award for creative nonfiction from the Association of Women in Communication.

Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, KATE BLACKWELL worked as a journalist, free-lance writer, and editor before turning full-time to fiction. Her story collection, you won’t remember this, was published in 2007 by Southern Methodist University Press. Her short fiction has appeared in numerous literary journals, as well as in several anthologies. She is the recipient of fellowships at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and the MacDowell Colony and was a scholar at the Sewanee Writers’ Conference. She divides her time between Neavitt, MD and Washington, DC.

I won an e-book from Editor Unleashed: Get an Agent (regularly $15). It looks great — here’s a little information about it from the website:

GET AN AGENT

It’s no secret that getting a literary agent can be just as difficult as writing a book. And of course, you’d rather be writing than spending your time on the unpleasant task of researching agents.

You’ve probably picked up a hard copy listing of agents that’s outdated. And you may have gotten lost in the maze of agent directories on the Web and ended up frustrated that many agents aren’t accepting queries from new writers.

That’s exactly why I created this E-Book featuring 100 literary agents who are accepting queries from new writers.

The 100 agents on this list represent every conceivable genre. And they all have these four things in common:

• They have a Web presence….

• They accept queries via e-mail….

• They’re reputable….

• They’re open to queries from new writers….

via GET AN AGENT | Editor Unleashed.

See those little ellipses (….) up above? That’s blog code for Go Check It Out!
