Submissions Temporarily Closed for Poetry & Nonfiction

By The Editors

December 17th, 2008

Because of a backlog in accepted work in poetry and nonfiction, VQR will be closing submissions temporarily, beginning on January 2, 2009. We’ve accepted a year’s worth of poems and essays, and it’s just not fair to writers for us to continue soliciting work in those genres. We’ll begin accepting poetry and nonfiction again when our regular reading period begins again on September 1, 2009.

Please note that fiction is unaffected; stories can still be submitted through May 29, 2009.

  1. I find it curious that no one has noticed–VQR bloggers included–that “Mr. Stanton” is a character from Thomas McGuane’s wonderful, biting novel The Sporting Club. McGuane–if he even cared–would be laughing so loudly we could hear his chortles from Montana.

  2. On the Internet, no one knows you’re a fictional character.
