A CvilleWords reader asks:
I just went through my kids books this weekend, and I have two boxes of mostly hardback children’s picture books appropriate for kids under 8. Any suggestions of where I could take them so they can be utilized by other kids?
Excellent question! My first suggestion: Your local domestic violence program or a homeless shelter that serves families would probably be happy to have these books for the children they serve.
More ideas off the top of my head: Pediatrician offices. Emergency rooms. The pediatric ward of your local hospital. Anywhere parents have to wait with their children: the Social Security office or welfare agency, for instance. Head Start programs or preschools. Church or synagogue nurseries. Foster home agencies.
What suggestions do you have, dear readers?

Gymnastics, martial arts and dance studios, places where one child is involved in a class and another might be waiting with the parent.
the Free Clinic also has a waiting room with lots of children.
The Friends of the Library (at Gordon Avenue Library ) takes donations of books and sells them at their annual book sale. All the money raised goes to support programs at the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library.
Terrific suggestions!
