Talk with the editors, walk with the editors…

…grunt and squeak and squawk with the editors — at WriterHouse:

Inside the Editing Process
with the Editors of Brain, Child Magazine

Thursday, October 30, 7pm at 508 Dale Avenue

So you’ve submitted your writing for publication. What happens next? Stephanie Wilkinson and Jennifer Niesslein, co-founders of the award-winning Brain, Child: The Magazine for Thinking Mothers, give the inside scoop on what happens on the editors’ end, the traits of writers they’d like to publish again, and the reason it takes so long to get an email back.

Stephanie Wilkinson is editor and publisher of Brain, Child. She lives in Lexington, Virginia, where she and a partner recently opened a new, local-foods fine dining restaurant, The Red Hen.

Jennifer Niesslein is the author of Practically Perfect in Every Way: My Misadventures through the World of Self-Help — and Back. Her work has appeared in The Nation, the Washington Post, Salon, and elsewhere.

  1. I, for one, will keep my grunting to a minimum.

  2. Wish I could say the same for myself. I might also squawk a little. What can I say? The song got in my head and I couldn’t help it.

  3. I guess that leaves the squeaking to me…
