I almost missed Library Card Sign-Up Month! Probably because I’ve had my library card since the very minute I moved to Charlottesville and I use it frequently. But what about you?
“The Smartest Card. Get it. Use it. @ your library”
September is Library Card Sign-up Month. Observed since 1987, this is a time when the American Library Association and libraries across the country remind parents that a library card is the most important school supply of all. Library cards are FREE and bring you a world of opportunity— no matter what your age.
Here are all the wonderful things that you can do with a J-MRL library card:
* Borrow books—find a quiet spot, curl up with a book and enjoy!
o adult fiction (over 41,000 titles in our collection)
o non-fiction books (over 87,000 titles on our collection)
o young adult books (over 3,000 in our collection)
o children’s books (over 54,000 titles in our collection)
* Borrow audio books (over 10,000 in our collection)
* Borrow DVD’s and video tapes
* Use the internet in all branches of the library system
* Use computer word processing in all branches
* Access online databases that the library subscribes to
* Place books on hold
* Request books on Interlibrary Loan
* Suggest books for the library to add to the collection

I love our library — just love it! I was just over at their website putting books on hold.
