Jill Davis and I should have something in common to talk about. After all, before I ever had a single book published, I taught David Letterman to scuba dive. Later on, when I was on his show promoting Rocket Boys/October Sky, he showed video of us underwater. Red Helmet, by the way, is getting some great buzz in Hollywood. Hopefully, I’ll be able to talk about the latest on that when I’m with my fans and friends in Charlottesville. Should be fun! Also, Kathy Mattea and I are touring together jointly promoting our projects, my Red Helmet novel, her new album titled Coal. I wrote the album notes for Coal and it’s a wonderful collection of coal mining songs as only Kathy can deliver them.
