I can has book deal?

I’m violating my lolcats ban to report this bit of unhappy news from Publishers Lunch

You lol’d them as a blog, now roflmao them as a book:

I Can Has Cheezburger’s PROFESSOR HAPPY CAT’S GUIDE TO THE LOLCATS, featuring old and new images from their blog: www.icanhascheezburger.com, to Patrick Mulligan at Gotham, in a good deal, for publication in Fall 2008, by Kate McKean at the Howard Morhaim Literary Agency (NA).

Just to depress you further, in Publishers Lunch-speak, “a good deal” is an advance between $100,000 and $250,000.

  1. That is truly depressing. Goes right along with my first rejection letter, a form letter. Argh.

  2. HP! How are things with you?

  3. It’s all good here in N’awlins. We found a school we like. We walk there. My husband bikes to work. I walk the dog and talk to the neighbors, one is a published writer. I pass the former estate of Anne Rice every day. For just a bit over $3mil. it could be yours, complete with staff quarters, pool, and guest house.

I’m sending out query letters for my first novel as I write on the second one.

I’m happy. I’m catching beads from the floats that parade by just five houses from ours. The South is agreeing with me. Not to sound too smug, but I don’t miss the snow at all.
