Last night at New Dominion, James Collins was asked who his literary influences were. He mentioned several British authors, including E. M. Forster, Evelyn Waugh, and Anthony Trollope, but said with some puzzlement that the author he’s most compared to is…Jane Austen.
Lo and behold, this morning’s daily email from Very Short List is about Beginner’s Greek and is headed, “Is this generation’s Jane Austen a man?“
Maybe there’s something to it.
