I voted at the Walker precinct poll this morning around 8:30. The lines were short, the workers were courteous, and I think I’m finally getting the hang of the spinnie-wheel picker thingie.

Spinnie-Wheel picker thingie? What’s that? Up here in the Rivanna District we just push hard next to the name. I had to ensure that my 2 year old didn’t push the red “Vote” button.
We’re fancy here in Walker, we have a wheel on the display in our booth. You put your finger on the wheel and spin it around in either direction and the names of the candidates light up one at a time. When you land on the one you want, you push the “enter” button to vote for them. It’s like a game!
Actually, I think of all the voting interfaces out there, this must be one of the worst ones. Is there a secret contest to come up with the most bizarre, least intuitive user interface just for voting applications?
I’m used to the spinnie-wheel picker thingie now, but the first time I used it I couldn’t figure out if it wanted to be a computer or if it wanted to be a toy.
It’s those nasty corporations trying to make things confusing so they can steal the election and put a Republican in power whenever possible.
Or maybe they’re trying to make voting *fun*!
