The MacArthur Fellows have been announced. Corey Harris of Charlottesville and Marc Edwards of Virginia Tech are among the distinguished winners of the renowned “genius grants.”

I don’t know Edwards, but I can vouch for Corey. His approach to music is marvelous – he looks for connections instead of putting walls up between genres. What a great thing for him! I’m looking forward to hearing what he can do with a little extra financial backing.
