Update from me

Metropolis by Fritz LangIf you’re wondering why I’m not posting at my usual blistering rate, it’s because I’ve been working my tail off at a local store. In the meantime, I’ve left some projects simmering on the burner: a review of Money for Nothing, a couple of classes, several borrowed books, Jamestown by Matthew Sharpe, and little things like cooking, yardwork, housework, and laundry. Oh, and the kids — I have kids. I’ll get back to them next week when school starts.

However, the store is lovely, this is the big busy season, and you all are welcome to stop by — Teachers’ Edition, Village Green Shopping Center, corner of Hydraulic & Commonwealth.

  1. Hey. Question about the two schools you linked. How are you liking them? I take it you have a child at each one? In particular, what do you think of the Living Ed Center?

I’ll be swinging by Teacher’s Edition soon. Hopefully I’ll see you and say hi. :-)

  2. I do have a child at each one. Each school seems to fit each kid pretty well. LEC is great, but their philosophy of education is very different from what you’d find at most public or private schools. We homeschooled for six years, and I can say that the transition from homeschooling to regular schooling has been pretty smooth in each case.

  3. It’s nice that you didn’t go with a one-school-fits-all mentality and helped your children find the school that works best for them. We’re looking ahead a few years and considering both of those schools, as well as Village. It’s going to be an interesting process, I’m sure, as we visit and learn more.

  4. We’re very fortunate, and it’s been a great experience so far, but my pocketbook is feeling the pain!
