The Thinking Blogger Award

thinking blogger awardIt’s Christmas in June at Cville Words! I’ve just been tagged by Clifford Garstang at Perpetual Folly for a Thinking Blogger award. It’s a gift with a barb, though — now I have to tag five and only five bloggers myself. How to narrow down the list? I’m going to try to choose some worthy blogs that I don’t think have been tagged before. If they have, well, they deserve it. Here goes:

Smithereens — Reads widely, thinks deeply, writes beautifully.

Rodney Welch: The Blog — Book and movie reviews as good as (no, better than) anything in the NYTBR.

540 Mbps — One of those young people who’s into technology. But he’s into lots of other stuff, too, and observes it all with a keen eye and sharp wit. One to watch.

Jen on the Edge — Honest, funny writing about family life ‘n’ stuff. She doesn’t hold back the painful parts.

I once was HP — Another writer-mom who is doing the best she can and telling it like it is.

Winners, by being tagged you agree to the following (sounds like one of Microsoft’s “voluntary” licensing agreements, doesn’t it?):

  • Acknowledge the origin of the meme/award.
  • Write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think.
  • Optional: Display the “Thinking Blogger Award” with a link to the post that you wrote using either the gold or silver versions of the award.

Many thanks again to Cliff — you made my day!!

  1. Thank you for the Thinking Blogger award!

  2. Thank you. I suppose I should follow this meme’s rules since this is the second time someone has tagged me with it.

It’s just that I don’t think I think when I blog. Really? I make you think? Oh, the angst. Crikey.

  3. Hey–congrats. One little thing. I was curious about the origins of this meme, and so did a tiny bit of research. Turns out that one of the requirements of passing on the award is to link to the page explaining its origins: http://www.thethinkingblog.com/2007/02/thinking-blogger-awards_11.html

    Just FYI.

  4. Thank you for thinking and blogging!

  5. Oops. I guess I overlooked that detail about linking to the original post. I’m going to assume it doesn’t invalidate the award I’ve bestowed and now I’m going back to my own post to link the post I was supposed to link to in the first place.

  6. You’re welcome!

Years ago I had a blog called TemporarySanity. I could call this one the same thing. My little island of personal sanity.

Thanks for the link, R-U. Looks like the rule to link back to “the origin” has morphed into a rule to link back to the person who gave you the award. Either that or I misunderstood.

  7. Hmmmm, I googled TemporarySanity and discovered that you were once a 23-year-old Polish guy into ice sculpture, Clerks, and Edward Scissorhands.

  8. I got over the Clerks thing.

  9. Thank you Elizabeth, you made my (otherwise crappy) day! I’m always happy if you stop by my blog!

  10. [...] not too in to internet memes, but I wanted to thank STLWorkingMom and Charlottesville Words for thinking of me in handing out Thinking Blogger Awards. Careful, though, Marijean – I’m [...]
