When we go to that big publisher in the sky…

PentacleYou may have heard that Veterans Affairs only recently added the pentacle the list of emblems permitted for display on government headstones. My S.O. passed along this site that displays all the symbols currently allowed by the VA. While you’re there, scroll down to the end of the list and note:

  • CHRISTIAN SCIENTIST (Cross & Crown) Not shown because of copyrights.
  • MUSLIM (Islamic 5 Pointed Star) Not shown because of copyright.

Could centuries of religious conflict be a result of copyright violation? Maybe instead of sending soldiers to Iraq or Ireland, we should send lawyers…

  1. So do you have to pay to get one of those symbols on your headstone? And does it have to be followed by the copyright symbol?

  2. I’m thinking of having just the copyright symbol put on mine.

  3. A perfect addition to the list for those whose religion is capitalism!

  4. What do I have to do to get my religious symbol on the list? Our symbol is the question mark. We are Indeterminates: http://www.mccull.org/gary/indetermination/

I guess the first problem is that we don’t have any adherents. Our creed doesn’t permit it.

Let’s just forget the whole thing. But if I can’t have a question mark on my tombstone can I just have a smily face?
