Just some quick links to the outcome of The Hook’s 2007 short story contest, judged by John Grisham. I haven’t had the leisure to read the stories yet but will have some thoughts on them later.
- Winner profiles
- First prize winner, “First Stones.”
- And in nonfiction: a short and true story about one of my personal heroes, Will Shaw.

“Ruemmler first submitted this year’s winning story to last year’s contest. “On a whim, I sent the same story in,” he says, “and after not winning then, this year it was a nice surprise to hear such kind words from Mr. G., who knows something about writing.”"
Hmmmm…interesting strategy.
It’s always nice to be judged by someone who knows something about writing! Yee-ouch.
