This postcard was mailed from Washington, DC in September, 1942, by “U M” (Uncle M?) to Miss Hazel Pfeifer of Sarcoxie, Missouri. Spout Springs is a natural spring that emerges from Beaver Bluff, just south of Shoals.
The reverse reads: “Dear Hazel, It seems I don’t have much time to write letters but thought of you anyway. The work at the office is quite heavy now so we work 10 1/2 hr. days instead of 8 but as soon as we get off that
in a couple wks I’ll have more time. Hope you are getting along well in school. Got a picture from Mary. Got letter fr Bryan yesterday. Write when you can. 4007 11th St. N. Arlington Va. Love U M Saw this place on my trip coming back”
Note the patriotic stamp.
