The Hook’s Fiction Contest — did you enter?

‘Fess up — did you enter The Hook’s short story contest for a chance at that $700 first prize? Or were you daunted by the prospect of being judged by His Nibs John Grisham? I can’t wait to see the winning stories.

Last year’s winners were Ginger Moran, Lincoln Michel, and Mark Lindensmith. Where are they now?

  1. I had every intention of entering a story, but the responsibility of three little children got in the way. One day.

  2. I really wanted to answer that question: “I don’t enter contests where I am going to be competing against thirteen year olds. But the truth of the matter is I’m just not a participator. I lack the required community spirit.

It’s nice of Grisham to volunteer some of his time to read a few entries (I can’t imagine that he would be reading all of them- probably just the top 10). Who’s judging wouldn’t affect my decision one way or the other.

  3. Nah, the Hook hates me too much. Even when it was C-ville Review, it hated me.

  4. I didn’t enter, either. I didn’t have anything ready that I wanted to send in.

Three small children, Sarabeth? Kudos to you for being able to write at all! It’s hard for me to put two consecutive thoughts together when the kids are around — my mommy-radar is too noisy.
