Heard back from The Southern Indiana Review. A form rejection, no ink, which says they can’t use my article at this time because of page restrictions and previously solicited work. That sounds a lot better than “you stink” but, oddly enough, doesn’t feel much different…

What’s that supposed to mean? “We can’t accept it because you’ve already submitted here before?” If so that’s a pretty lame excuse. I can take rejection, just be constructive and don’t be dumb about it.

No, I think they meant articles or stories they had already assigned. “A large number of previously solicited pieces” is the exact phrase. Although come to think of it, it’s not clear what that means, either…
